New raw materials for the chemical and plastics industries – biogenic residues and plastic-containing waste as a source of carbon
How can non-fossil, renewable carbon sources such as biomass and waste be tapped as raw materials for the (petro)chemical industry?
This on-site event will showcase thermochemical processes for the conversion of biogenic residues and plastic-containing waste on a pilot plant and demonstration scale. It will also present thermo-catalytic reforming, a combined pyrolysis and reforming process that produces thermally stable biogenic pyrolysis oils that can be processed in refineries. In addition, new methods for the downstream processing of pyrolysis oils from biomass and plastic waste will be presented, including a novel approach for the production of aromatic fractions with a minimal proportion of heteroatoms. In addition to conversion technologies, processes for the utilization and further processing of co-products from thermochemical conversion processes, such as carbonates, synthesis gases, and process water, will also be presented.
