About Dr. Pingjun Ying

Dr. Pingjun Ying is a group leader of ‘Thermoelectric Module Engineering’ at the Leibniz Institute of Solid State and Materials Research in Dresden (IFW-Dresden). Dr. Ying completed her Ph.D. in 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Tiejun Zhu at Zhejiang University in China. From 2017 to 2018, she was a postdoc at the Institute of Materials Science with Prof. Dr. Anke Weidenkaff at the University of Stuttgart. In 2019, Dr. Ying joined the Institute of Metallic Materials headed by Prof. Dr. Kornelius Nielsch at the Leibniz Institute of Solid State and Materials Research in Dresden (IFW-Dresden) as a postdoc and became a group leader since 2023. Her research is focused on the development of high-performance thermoelectric power generation and cooling device. She realized a high-performance Te-free thermoelectric generator for low-grade heat harvesting and a half-Heusler thermoelectric generator for high-temperature application. Additionally, she investigated innovative approaches to develop thermoelectric cooling systems that can effectively regulate temperatures in various applications. Furthermore, with a deepened understanding of thermoelectric materials and modules, she can further design and fabricate high-performance thermoelectric modules according to real application. She strives to contribute to sustainable energy solutions and innovative cooling technologies for a wide range of industries and applications.
