About Dr. Andrei V. Kovalevsky

Andrei V. Kovalevsky (Kavaleuski) (AK) (http://www.ciceco.ua.pt/kav) is a tenured Principal Researcher at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials, Department of Materials and Ceramic Engineering (DEMaC), University of Aveiro, Portugal. He coordinates CICECO´s research line focused on energy materials and applications. From 2020 to 2022, AK was recognized as one of the top 2% most-cited scientists globally, as per the study coordinated by Prof. Ioannidis from Stanford University, USA, titled "World's Top 2% Scientists". He co-authored ~170 SCI papers (h-index of 41 with ~6400 citations (Google Scholar)) and participated in more than 30 R&D projects, supported by European Commission and national funding agencies. Over the past five years, he has led five R&D projects, comprising three national and two European initiatives.

His current research group's (https://www.facebook.com/LabSSIEC) R&D activities encompass the development of thermoelectrics for waste heat conversion, cost-effective, high-performance electrocatalysts for hydrogen and oxygen evolution, porous ceramics for catalysis and separation, and direct electrochemical reduction of metal oxides powered by renewables as a greener steelmaking alternative.
