Materials for sustainable tandem solar cells with highest conversion efficiency

Solar cells with the highest efficiencies supply electricity cost-effectively and consume less space and materials. High efficiencies are also made possible by new products, such as self-powered buildings or electric cars that can be charged via solar cells. However, the efficiency of silicon solar cells can no longer be increased arbitrarily. The physical limits responsible for this can be overcome with tandem solar cells. With them, efficiencies of over 35% are possible.

  • Synthesis & material screening - Finding alternative Pb-free perovskite light absorbers for tandem PV
  • Sustainability evaluation - methodological work on the complete and comprehensive life cycle inventory (LCI) data, life cycle analysis (LCA) model and results
  • Recycling - Methodologies development of guaranteed safe handling of Perovskite-Si tandem modules
