The division is primarily concerned with the substitution of rare and expensive raw materials in future technologies. The objective is the resource-efficient development of innovative substances, but also substitution at component, process and technological level.
One focus of the work is on the development of permanent magnets with drastically reduced rare earth content for electric motors and wind turbines.
The focus is also on using innovative substitutes to optimise and develop
- Optical materials and optoelectronic components
- Environmental and energy technologies
- Information and communication technologies
