Around 50 guests from companies and organizations in the Untermain region used the opportunity at the business evening to discuss and exchange with like-minded people about sustainability. The Fraunhofer Project Group Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS was co-organizer and partner of the event and presented its research in the area of bio-based and biodegradable plastic materials. The guests were invited to test their knowledge by guessing which of two plastic foils was bio-based and biode-gradable and which one wasn’t, using only their haptics and eye-sight. The optimiza-tion of bio-based and biodegradable plastics with regard to their tear resistance is one of the research topics worked on at the Project Group. During the panel discussion, Dr. Karin Titze-Frech, head of the department Biogenic Systems of the Project Group, an-swered more in-depth questions from the participants on this topic.
In addition, several other enterprises from various industries in the region that work on sustainability and environmental protection presented how these topics can be filled with live, using concrete examples.
