Exhibition in Schlösschen Michelbach from 1 to 29 July 2012: Fraunhofer invents the future – also in Alzenau 2012 saw the 20th anniversary of the “Rio Summit”, whose resolutions in the form of Agenda 21 are considered to be a milestone on the path to sustainability. Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel declared the 2012 Year of Science to be the “Year of Sustainability Research” under the motto “Future Project EARTH”. At the centre of this initiative was the contribution of science and research to sustainable development.

On 29 June 2012 the Fraunhofer Project Group for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS of the Fraunhofer ISC celebrated the opening of its location in the Industriepark Hanau-Wolfgang. Following its establishment in Alzenau in September 2011, the project group now has its second centre.

On 4th of June the Fraunhofer Project Group for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS, which has been situated in Alzenau since the autumn of 2011, will open its doors to the public between 1 and 5 p.m. in Brentanostraße 2. The occasion is the “German Day of Action on Sustainability”, to kick off a three-day conference on sustainable development in Rio.

On 20th of March Dr. Marcel Huber, Bavaria’s Minister for the Environment, visited the new Fraunhofer Project Group IWKS in Alzenau, in order to learn about the latest state and further planning concerning the topic of materials recycling and resource strategy.
